What’s north depends on your perspective! We think Edmonton is
really located in the central part of Alberta and consider Calgary
to be the south. Then again, our neighbours from Yellowknife in the
Northwest Territories smile when they hear our northern claim as
they keep driving further north for six hours to get home.

And travel you can in northern Alberta. Our
highways, flyways and gravel roads get you nearly anywhere you want
to go at any time of the year. Each part of the region has its own
make-up of attractions and amenities, service providers and economic
strengths. Our geography has shaped how we do business. Longer
distances, smaller population numbers and weather impact on our
economy and our lifestyles. It has also fostered our warm community
spirit.
