Our region contains all of the health services and educational
programming you need to live a full and healthy life in Northern
Alberta.
Health services
Health services include
community hospitals that tend to the day-to-day needs of residents (e.g. in/out
patient services, emergency, surgical, diagnostic/imaging services, dietitians,
speech, occupational, and physical therapists), medical clinics, dentists,
optometrists and chiropractors; counseling and support programs for addictions
and violence prevention; and child and family services and seniors’ care.

Educational programming
Northern Alberta offers comprehensive
elementary, high school and post-secondary programs at our 290 primary and
secondary schools, which are run by 20 Public, Catholic, and French School Districts, as well as by First Nations and private
educational organizations. Our 65,000 students attend traditional classrooms or
learn through home study, virtual campuses, and outreach programs. Over 5000
certified teachers work in our region.

Northern Alberta is home to many fine post-secondary institutions and collaborative distance education networks.
Keyano College offers a strong array of academic and industry-based training programs, and also has a Visual and Performing Arts program that has been hailed as "the best in all of Alberta."
Northern Lakes College is made up of a network of 27 satellite campuses, and uses a variety of delivery modes to bring upgrading, career and university studies to many of its communities.
Portage College's thirty certificate and diploma programs span seven areas of study and include upgrading, career and university studies, trades and technical training.
Grande Prairie Regional College is the place of choice for a wide variety of certificate, diploma and collaborative degree options, and even has the only Harley Davidson Technician Program in Canada at its Fairview campus.
Athabasca University is Canada's largest distance education institution, and offers a range of undergraduate and graduate degree options. Its Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program has been included in the prestigious list of the world's top Executive MBA programs by the Financial Times of London, England.
Blue Quills First Nations College offers an array of post-secondary programs based on a strong Aboriginal philosophy.
Alberta-North is a unique educational partnership that uses the region’s distance education network to expand educational programming across the region. Strategic partnerships with other Alberta colleges and universities bring various degree programs to our region.
eCampusAlberta offers certificate and diploma programs from institutions across the province, with the benefit of local college support.
